Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)

woodchips.jpgClimate change occurs when an increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions causes a rise in the Earth’s temperature. Recognizing the threat to the global economy and society, governments adopted the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 1992. In December 1997 the Kyoto Protocol has been signed and the industrialized nations have committed to making substantial reductions in their emissions of greenhouse gases. Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is a market mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while promoting sustainable development in developing countries. Projects in developing countries receive revenue from certified emissions reductions (CERs), which are sold to industrialized countries. Many industrial companies in Asia are aware of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)

CDM Gold Standard

The Gold Standard is a NGO-backed tool to ensure CDM projects deliver maximum environmental and social benefits and real, long-term emission reductions. At the same time, it is designed to help reduce risks associated with the CDM development cycle. The Gold Standard criteria are fully integrated in the CDM project development cycle. The difference is that more stringent criteria are required at the Project Design Document development stage. By distinguishing projects, the Gold Standard fetches premium carbon credit prices. ENVIMA is specialized on Gold Standard CDM projects in order to achieve a higher level of environmental protection and ensure sustainable development.
